If You Must Know… My Story

I was fourteen years old when I first confiscated my parents’ 1.5 megapixel digital camera from the shelf in their room and started taking photos of my friends. I took thousands and thousands of photos, bringing them back home to Photoshop 7.0 to give my friends third eyes, extra arms, and other goofy features.

One day I accidentally flipped the switch on the camera to video mode, and my world was rocked. Now I could take moving images and edit them together to create something new and unique. Immediately I began filming everything I could, doing skits with friends, doing experiments with camera techniques, and filming all of my school events in high school.

I loved filming events so much, that I created a two-disc Yearbook DVD for my school two years in a row. That’s when I realized that I not only loved media creation and was good at it, but could make a living doing it as well.

After high school I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cinema and Video Production. During my studies I learned and earned recognition in medium format photography. I learned to develop and print my own film and pictures, and fell in love with the art form.

After university, I moved to Phoenix to work for Adobe. It’s here that I learned to master editing software, and worked for some of the smartest people in the technology businesses, learning all I could about how to manage my time and resources to achieve and exceed goals.

During this time, I also directed Filmstock Film Festival, expanding it from showings in Tempe, Arizona to events in Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT, where we were recognized for being one of the best 25 short film festivals to submit to by Movie Maker Magazine, and grew to handle more than 2,500 film submissions annually. Through my experience here, I met and connected with some of the best filmmaking and photographic talent the Southwest had to offer, and work with many of them to this day.

In 2015 I entered the wedding business, joining another wedding video company with the goal of increasing its quality and growing its reach. We were able to create a team in Chicago, IL and grow the existing team in Phoenix, and grow the amount of weddings from 50, to over 200 annually.

Finally, in 2018, I decided to start this new venture – Lee Media – with the goal of producing joy through excellence for our couples. I decided to do this to make wedding photography and cinematography more accessible to people of any demographic, because I believe the market has become more competitive, and that that should be welcomed. I’m also excited to work with some of the best talent I’ve met through my career as a producer.

Most importantly, however… I love weddings. Didn’t think I would. But I very much do.

It’s important to me, and I believe it’s important to the couples we work with, that I personally know how to capture terrific moments on both video and photos, with precision and excellence. This helps me vet and work with other capable teammates, and ensures the final product, whether I am on site for that specific moment or not, is of the utmost excellence, and the utmost heart.

Working for you and capturing the magic of your day is a privilege, and a privilege that I take very seriously.

I look forward to hearing from you and what you’re planning for you day.
